St Mark's CE Primary School

"LET YOUR LIGHT SHINE" Matthew 5:16

Welcome to St Mark's CE Primary School

Harvest 2021 Worship Led by Y4

COLLECTIVE WORSHIP

We are excited to be sharing our worship as a whole school all together in the hall once more, here at St Mark's.  You can see our Worship Sequence here and below.

We welcome the children with our call and respond:

Worship Lead: "Through Hope, Energy, resilience and Optimism, we let our lights shine."

Children respond: "We are all St Mark's Heroes."

For our send out, to remind the children of our vision, we say:

Worship Lead:  "Jesus is the Light of the World."

Children: "Let Your Light Shine"

I enjoy my Whole School Worship every Monday.  I share Bible stories, linked to our values or events and introduce the Reflection Space activity for the week.

You can see the videos and examples of the Reflection Spaces below.

On Tuesdays , classes have their own collective worship, in which they have the time to reflect on Monday's worship and respond through the Reflection Space Activity.

On Wednesday, we celebrate through our singing worship-learning hymns and songs to complement our Worship theme, or prepare for our Services.

On Thursdays, Miss McKenzie shares worship with the whole school.   These are linked to our weekly themes, and any special religious celebrations or international events that may be taking place.

On Fridays,  we celebrate the children's achievements throughout the week, as we see how they have let their lights shine! The whole school assembles in the hall, so we can recognise each other's achievements.  We also invite parents and carers of the "Stars of the Week" to join us.

You can see our Worship Calendar here.  You can find our Collective Worship Policy on our Policies page.

OUR PRAYERS

COLLECTIVE WORSHIP-Children's Prayers

Our children love to write their own prayers.  They place them in the Prayer Box on the altar, and then they are proud to share them during Worship.  During lockdown, we have loved seeing the children's prayers they have shared on Tapestry.

During this time of reflection, we light a candle to remind us that "Jesus is the light of the world."  This is one of the three elements of our motto. "Let your light shine" Matthew 5:16.

One of our children wrote this during lockdown:    "Every evening we light candles for the people who passed away from Corona virus and say a prayer for them. "

COLLECTIVE WORSHIP-Reflection Spaces

In each Monday worship, Mrs Fendley introduces the Reflection Space for the week, and this forms part of the Send element of our worship.    We also use our lovely outdoor reflection space for moments of quiet reflection, to appreciate the world that God has made.

OUR LOVELY OUTDOOR REFLECTION SPACE   "....opportunities for prayer and reflection in a beautiful and peaceful outside reflection area which is designed as a church and faces the direction of St George’s Church."

COLLECTIVE WORSHIP-lockdown

During partial school closure,  Mrs Fendley enjoyed sharing some of our favourite stories that we listen to in worship. Even though things were very different, we wanted to keep some things the same.
